IMAGINE

Youth ENAAL

08-17 Oct 2024

The Youth ENAAL hosted the ERASMUS+ programme “Imagine” in Pervolia, Larnaca, from October 8 to October 17, 2024, with the participation of 60 young people aged 18–30 from eight European countries.
The title of the project was inspired by the well-known song “Imagine” by John Lennon and promoted the vision of a society based on equality, freedom, peace, and justice, without discrimination or divisions.
During the programme, participants learned about the opportunities and challenges within Europe and discussed fundamental values such as human rights and the rule of law.
They also exchanged views on how they envision the future of Europe and reflected on their own role as young people in shaping that future, strengthening their European identity and awareness.
The programme included lectures, experiential workshops, open discussions, non-formal learning activities, and educational games, while each country presented elements of its culture, cuisine, traditions, education, and art.
Educational visits were also organized to cultural monuments and historical sites of Cyprus. Through the activities of the programme, participants became more aware of issues related to refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants by interacting both with staff members of refugee reception facilities and with refugees themselves, sharing experiences and challenging stereotypes and prejudices.
At the same time, they were trained on how to address racist and xenophobic reactions within their societies, proposed ideas and solutions regarding the refugee issue, became familiar with non-formal and experiential learning methods, and learned about the values and objectives of the Erasmus+ programme.
