Young people from eight countries participated in the ERASMUS+ training seminar on skills development for youth employability, which took place from May 8 to May 16 in Pervolia, Larnaca.
High levels of unemployment and the lack of employment opportunities were among the most significant challenges facing young people, as difficulties in finding work and the absence of training opportunities often created feelings of isolation and insecurity, negatively affecting both individuals and society.
The seminar, titled “Skill Development for Youth Employment,” brought together 35 youth workers from eight countries—Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland—and focused on developing skills related to job searching, understanding employers’ expectations, and making effective use of available training opportunities.
Participants gained knowledge on developing professional plans, strengthening entrepreneurship, and promoting green development.
As part of the programme, they also carried out an educational visit to Nicosia, where they visited the Archaeological Museum, the Green Line, the Old Neighborhood, and Eleftheria Square, gaining valuable insights into the history and cultural heritage of Cyprus. The programme also aimed to empower young people by providing them with knowledge and skills that would help them enter the labour market with greater confidence, while promoting active civic participation, social inclusion, and intercultural dialogue, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the youth community.
